Frequently Asked Questions

These are some of the questions that we have been asked over time. They are in no particular order. If you would like a question answered please pick up the phone and talk to us. Alternatively, just email us.

Q1. Do you offer a Pay As You Go service?

Yes we offer a Pay As You Go service. There is no reason to subscribe to our service if you feel  your organisation does not need it. Call us for a quote. Please note Pay As You Go service is subject to availability. Subscription customers will always be given priority as we have contractual obligations to them.

Q2. What do you charge on a Pay As You Go basis?

Our rates depend on the type of job. It can be as low as £60 + Vat and hour to £120 + Vat an hour. Please call us for a quote.

Q3. Do you charge by the hour or fixed rate?

The short answer is both. For most small jobs we charge by the hour (for the first hour) then in 30 minute increments. For longer jobs we quote a fixed rate or project cost.

Q4. What is the minimum term for your contract?

12 months.

Q5. I have had a cheaper quote from another company, will you match it?

Generally the answer is no. You will always find companies that are cheaper and more expensive. It's just the way it is in most industries. Our pricing is based on the value that we bring. We have checked our pricing against competitors and our pricing is about average. We do not compete on price.

Q6. Do you offer any other packages apart from Pay As You Go and Support Contracts?

We have a Banked Time or Banked Money package where there is no monthly fee but you still benefit from having us at your beck n' call.

Q7. What IT support packages do you offer?

Our IT support packages are featured on this page: IT Support Packages

Q8. I am worried about the hassle of changing support?

Worry no more. All we really need is your server and router user names and passwords. Once we have that we can get to work right away. Many companies prey on their client’s fears and make things more complex than they need to be. It's a very simple process.

Q9. Can I change a support plan to suit my business needs?

Yes. You can change your support plan by giving us one months’ notice.

Q10. Are you able to carry out work evenings or weekends?

We can carry out work outside normal office hours. Evening and weekend work carry a different rate.

Q11. Can I upgrade my support plan later?

Yes you can. It is best for both parties if you select a package that meets or exceeds your expected needs for a long term. However, if you find that your package choice is not meeting your needs we are happy to upgrade you.

Q12. I am worried about escalating costs or getting billed for things that I wasn’t expecting?

We never bill you without your consent or do any work without asking for your consent via email or phone conversation.

Q13. Will I see the same faces?

Yes, we are not a nameless corporation staffing hundreds of people. We are a small business whose teams operate in groups of threes. You will most likely work with the same engineers and interact with them on a regular basis. This means the engineers become familiar with you and your system.

Q14. Do you provide hardware and software support on PC’s and Servers?

Yes we do. You can decide to subscribe to software only support or both hardware and software support.

Q15. Can I just pay for some things on a Pay As You Go Basis?

Yes you can. If you’re needs are minimal, you may pay as you go, however most users will find they save a lot of money by signing up for a It support package.

Q16. Do you provide support for Routers/Switches?

Yes we do.

Q17. Do you have a minimum charge on your subscription?

Yes. Our monthly subscriptions start at £160 + Vat a month.

Q18. Will you manage our IT procurement for us?

Yes we will. However, it is not compulsory.

Q19. What do you mean by transparency in your IT support programme?

We have a transparent IT support service. Typically when a small business uses the services of an IT support company there are 3 types of cost: a) a monthly fee if you are signed up to a  contract b) an hourly or day rate for work that's falls outside a contract c) the cost of purchasing hardware or software. Our policy on Transparency in IT means that you will know the cost of all of these things before even subscribe to our service. Before you sign up to our service we would have agreed a) a set monthly fee for your contract b) an hourly and daily rate for any chargeable work. And lastly, regarding c) purchasing of hardware and software, we get around that by being honest and letting you know our purchase price and also telling you honestly that we will add a percentage for our time. We even tell you the exact percentage. Now, you cannot get any more transparent than that.

Q20. What are your business accreditations?

We have been awarded Microsoft Small Business Specialist status. We are also Brigantia Computer Expert's. We are a Microsoft, HP, Dell part company. We are also Federation of Small Business and London Chamber of Commerce members.

Q21. What qualifications do your technicians hold?

Some of us hold degrees and or masters degrees. Others hold MCSE's (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer), MCSA, and Cisco qualifications.

Q22. Do you have insurance?

Definitely. We have Professional Indemnity, Public Liability and Employer's Liability. We also have specific insurance related to working with computers.

Q23. Do you have a call out charge?

No. We do not have a call out charge.

Q24. Do you have a travel time or travel cost charge?

No. We do not have a travel time or travel cost charge.

Q25. Can we speak to some of your customers?

Definitely. We can arrange that for you.

Q26. Do you support land line phones?

We support VoIP land line phones.

Q27. I am not a customer, I would like a quote for a project as I am comparing prices?

We are happy to do IT support quotes. However, if you have a project like a network set-up, upgrade, installation etc then we normally recommend you subscribe to our service so we can invest the time to do a thorough quote for you. There is a valid reason for this. It could easily take us half a day or a day or two to write up a detailed proposal. As a small business we cannot afford to spend time on speculative quotes where we are not earning any money. Especially ones that take a lot of time. We believe in getting paid for our time. If you are a small business and you believe in getting paid for your time then you will understand this. More importantly, because we follow the practice of Transparency in IT, you will know our labour charges before you subscribe to our service. When it comes to purchasing parts and products, we are completely transparent on that too. We show you our purchase price and then tell you the exact mark-up we will add to it.  Most small businesses and our customers are happy for a small business to make a profit. This basically means you know you always pair a fair price with us.

Q28. Which parts of the country do you cover?

We cover the entire UK. From the big cities to the small towns and villages.
